What is Cyclone Wire?
Cyclone wire is the common Philippine name for galvanized chain-link fencing — a type of wire mesh made from interlocked, spirally wound wires that form a diamond-shaped pattern. The resulting fabric is flexible yet strong, making it one of the most practical and widely used fencing materials in the country. You may also hear it called hurricane wire, diamond mesh fencing, or simply chain-link fence, depending on the region or the supplier. All of these refer to the same product.
The wire used to make cyclone wire is galvanized — coated with a layer of zinc — which gives it strong resistance to rust and corrosion. This makes it well-suited for outdoor use in the Philippine climate, where heat, humidity, and rain would quickly degrade uncoated steel. Because the fabric can be rolled up and is relatively lightweight compared to solid fencing materials, cyclone wire is also easy to transport, handle, and install on site.
Una Wire Cyclone Wire Specifications
We supply galvanized cyclone wire in three standard heights. All rolls are 10 meters in length and manufactured from G.I. #12 wire with a 2×2-inch diamond mesh opening.
| Height | Roll Length | Wire Gauge | Mesh Opening | Material |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4 ft (1.2 m) | 10 meters | G.I. #12 | 2×2 inches (diamond) | Hot-dipped galvanized |
| 5 ft (1.5 m) | 10 meters | G.I. #12 | 2×2 inches (diamond) | Hot-dipped galvanized |

Where is Cyclone Wire Used?
Cyclone wire is one of the most versatile fencing options available in the Philippines. Common applications include:
- Residential perimeter fencing. The most common use — defining property boundaries for houses, subdivisions, and residential lots. The 4ft and 5ft heights are popular for gardens and front yards; 6ft provides added privacy and security.
- Schools and institutional campuses. Widely installed around school grounds, government offices, and barangay halls where a visible yet low-cost perimeter barrier is needed. The open diamond mesh allows security personnel to see through the fence from both sides.
- Factories and industrial compounds. The 6ft height is the standard for factory perimeters, warehouses, and industrial lots. Often topped with barbed wire for added security.
- Sports courts and recreational areas. Basketball courts, tennis courts, and multi-purpose courts commonly use 10ft to 12ft cyclone wire panels to contain balls and define the playing area.
- Construction site enclosures. Temporary cyclone wire fencing is used to secure construction sites, restrict access, and define the work zone during building projects.
Cyclone Wire vs. Other Fencing Options
Choosing the right fencing material depends on your budget, security requirements, and site conditions. Here is how cyclone wire compares to the two most common alternatives:
| Fencing Type | Relative Cost | Security Level | Visibility Through | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cyclone Wire | Medium | Medium — difficult to climb, easy to cut | High — open diamond mesh | General perimeter fencing, schools, residential lots, sports courts |
| Barbed Wire | Low | Low to medium — discourages trespass but easy to pass under | High — minimal obstruction | Agricultural land, farm perimeters, topping on existing fences |
| Welded Wire | Medium to high | Medium to high — rigid, harder to cut or bend | Medium — smaller mesh openings | Animal enclosures, garden borders, partitions, light-security panels |
For maximum perimeter security, cyclone wire is commonly combined with barbed wire topping. We supply both — contact us to discuss your requirements.
